Annie Z. - USA - Luthien

HAIL HAIL Nerd Heard of the Stars!!  We have another talented artist to feature on Sci-Fi Cafe!   Let's learn more about Annie Z and her Sci-Fi Cafe piece called Luthien.

Q: Where do you live and how old are you?

A: I live in South East Michigan and am 27 years old.

Q: How long have you been drawing?

A: Ever since I can remember. As a kid I was constantly drawing and painting.

Q: Did you have formal training or self-taught, or both.

A: Both. I learned basics of traditional drawing and painting, and digital painting,  over many years of experimentation.  Then I earned an Illustration degree from Kendall College of Art and Design, where I learned a lot in anatomy, realism, and color theory. Which really helped to take my art to a more professional level.

Q: What’s your favorite Science Fiction or Fantasy Movie?

A: Any of the Lord of The Rings movies. When I first saw them as a kid, the scale of the story and world made a huge impact on me and I have been enamored ever since. It& #39;s my favorite book series as well, and I'm often inspired by the imagery and themes of that world.

Q: What inspired the piece you did for Sci-Fi Café?

A: My previously mentioned love of Lord of the Rings! I really like fantasy stories that create a world with extensive history. So, of course I find the Silmarillion very inspiring and based my painting on the Story of Beren and Luthien recovering a Silmaril from Morgoth.

Q: Where can Café members see your work?

A: At my website, I  also have some illustrations available as prints and products on at my Anniezs store.

Q: What do you do for a living, if not full time from your art.

A: I have been working full time as a Freelance Illustrator for 6 years. I like to work on lots different kinds of projects, so it's a great fit for me.  I do everything from children's books, to portraits, to medical illustration, to fantasy art, and more!

Q: Favorite movie quote?

A: Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?

Q: What’s one thing you would want Sci-Fi cafe to know about you?

A: I am always looking for new projects and art styles to try. So, if you have an interesting project idea and don't see work online from me that matches, feel free to get in touch anyway! I have a lot more images offline, and if I haven't done it before I always like to collaborate on something new.
